fourth grade Placement
My first placement was in Mr. Dembowski's fourth grade class. I learned so much from my cooperating teacher and this group of students. I worked in this classroom for 7 weeks creating and implementing lesson plans as well as one unit of instruction, and assisting my cooperating teacher by working with small groups and working one-on-one with students who needed more scaffolding during independent work.

Unit of study-Literary Essays
Since I came into the fourth grade class just in time for test prep, I decided to write a literary essay unit of instruction in order to help them out. I had already been in charge of the short answer questions the students received for homework each week, as well as in-class short answer questions that corresponded to the read aloud text, so I thought why not expand on these short answers, and practice writing essay answers for the texts.

This is a card that a few of the girls made for me for my last day. This was the first card I read when the students walked in on my last day and the second that I read it, tears formed in my eyes. I was so sad to leave this group because they really were my first students and I had such a great connection with them.

When I received this card I thought it was the cutest thing! The two girls who wrote me this card rarely spoke to me in person, but when I read this, along with their valentines day cards, all I could think of was how you never know who you are making an impact on. Just because one student does not talk to you everyday or seem to admire you, does not mean that you are not a memorable person to them. I thought this was so sweet.

Lastly, this is a card from a student who was so sweet and always tried her hardest in class. I watched her grow over the few weeks I was in her class. She gained confidence in her writing, which was important with the state tests just around the corner, and she focused on correcting herself in her short answer questions where needed. She went from handing me in 1 answers, to handing in perfect answers.
